Art I 5th Period (Freeman)This course emphasizes the development of students’ ability to recognize visual arts content, concepts, and skills to create, discuss, and understand original works of art. The course
includes basic study of the components of art design and the creation of art products. Students develop understanding and appreciation for the visual arts through visual communication and production, cultural context and art history, judgment and criticism, and aesthetics. Ceramics 6th Period (Freeman)In this course, students identify basic pottery terms, utilize tools, and practice pottery hand-building and surface treatment techniques to create unique clay objects. In addition, students practice pottery hand-building techniques and use a variety of surface techniques to create culturally-inspired sculpture in clay. Students will plan for, create and analyze ceramic works. Students will be part of a working ceramics studio and will participate in its upkeep. Identification and practice of wheel-throwing techniques are included in Ceramics II.
